ASC Jaraaf head coach Malick Daf stated that his charges are traveling to Algeria in search of a big win. The Senegal side are on the brink of progressing to the quarter finals of the CAF Confederation Cup with a match in Algeria against USM Alger to conclude the group stage. Second placed Jaraaf will qualify if they avoid defeat as they fight against Ivorian side ASEC Mimosas for a place in the quarter final.
Speaking to Wiwsport, Daf said they will try to win in Algeria. "No, we will not play for a draw. We will go for the victory. There is no question of leaving the initiative to the opponent or playing it safe. We are more ambitious than that. USM is a good team, but it will be under pressure because a defeat at home could cost it first place."
Jaraaf's scoring record is something that worries the head coach after netting only twice in five Confederation Cup games. But recent improvements are acknowledged by Daf: "Indeed. If you look at our first days, we scored 7 goals in four league games, which puts us among the best attacks. At times, there were difficulties but thank God we found our offensive sensations again."
Daf concluded his charges mainly focus their efforts on the pitch. Jaraaf were heavily punished by CAF after their fans attacked USM Alger fans in the first match at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium. "We insisted on the importance of focusing only on what is happening on the pitch. No matter the atmosphere in the stands or anything that might happen off it, this is not football, and it must not disturb us. The players must approach this match with great enthusiasm and a desire to win."
Jaraaf are second with eight points. ASEC Mimosas are third with five points.
