Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids has remained cautions as they prepare to face Stellenbosch in the return leg semi-final clash of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

The South African club will host the Tanzanian giants in the return leg semi-final clash of the inter-club competition at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday with the Msimbazi Reds carrying a 1-0 advantage from their first leg at the New Aman Stadium in Zanzibar.

Ahead of the fixture at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, the South African coach has revealed his game plan against a ‘dangerous’ Stellenbosch side insisting their main focus is to score in the away game.

“They are a dangerous team, just looking at the history, last season and the season before, they beat Sundowns, they beat Pirates, they struggled a little bit against Chiefs but they are good against big teams and they know how to play against big teams,” Davids told Pan-Africa Football.

“They don’t mind not having the ball, they cannot have the ball for the entire match, 30 to 40 percent possession, and then they hit you with only one counter-attack, so they are a very dangerous team.

“Looking at how they are approaching the CAF games, they are playing the ball behind your defence line with speed, they are getting along and at halfway line they hit and throw it into the box, and that is probably the most dangerous moment from them.

“We have to manage the transitions and that is extremely the key, but it is a very difficult awkward match that we are going to play, maybe they come with a different approach and say let’s high press and attack Simba, or maybe they are a little bit more cautious because if they concede an away goal, they will have to score three.

“So we have prepared for all game plans, all strategies that they will come with, we have to be ready to be able to do the job, and like I said in the first leg, my concern was to keep a clean sheet, 0-0 result was okay with me, and now when I approach this match, I want to score an away goal.”

Should Simba or Stellenbosch progress, they will face the winner of the other semi-final between RSB Berkane of Morocco and CS Constantine of Algeria. Berkane are in pole position to reach the final after a commanding 4-0 first-leg victory at home.
