RS Berkane head coach Moine Chaabani has called on his players to stay humble and focused despite qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Caf Confederation Cup with two matches left.
The Moroccan outfit defeated Stade Malien 1-0 in Bamako on Sunday to confirm their qualification to the next stage. Imad Riahi’s 64th-minute strike was enough to give Berkane their fourth consecutive group-stage win, further solidifying their position as one of Africa’s most in-form teams.
“As much as I am happy and proud of what the players are offering this season and their great sacrifices, I also want us to continue with the same steadfastness, humility, and keeping our feet firmly planted on the ground,” Chaabani said as quoted by CAFOnline website.
“Nothing has been achieved yet. We started the season with clear goals, but to achieve them, we must remain humble and consistent.”
Following the away win, Berkane cemented their lead in Group B with 12 points, six clear of second-placed Stellenbosch of South Africa, who earlier in the day had defeated CD Lunda Sul 2-0. Stade Malien sits third with four points, while Lunda Sul is rooted at the bottom with one.
Berkane are currently leading the Moroccan league with 39 points after 16 matches.
