Tanzanian club Simba SC got off to an excellent start in Algeria on Sunday but a rally from hosts CS Constantine in the second half gave the Algeria Ligue 1 leaders a 2-1 victory in Group A from the CAF Confederation Cup. CSC are now three points clear of Simba and Bravos do Maquis at the top of the group.

Simba captain Mohamed Hussein's cross floated into the net for a first half opener from the Reds but everything fell apart after halftime. An own goal less than a minutes into the second half leveled the match for CSC and less than four minutes later the talismanic Dib gave the Algerian club a lead they would not relinquish.

Meanwhile in Angola there was a surprise result as hosts Bravos do Maquis defeated Tunisia's CS Sfaxien by a 3-2 score. Former Cape Town City forward Joaquim Paciencia was among the scorers for Bravos who scored all their goals in the first half for a 3-1 lead. Sfaxien made a push to level but could manage only one goal in the second half.
