Popular Tanzanian club Simba SC are not known for their success away from home but the Dar es Salaam side got the job done in Tunisia with Sunday's 1-0 CAF Confederation Cup victory. Jean Charles Ahoua's first half goal was all the Reds needed to prevail over struggling CS Sfaxien and Simba are now level with Algerian club CS Constantine on nine points at the top of the group.
With three clubs each level on six points heading into Sunday's matches, Simba needed a result and it was Ivorian forward Ahoua who provided the decisive moment. A long ball from the Simba defense was cleverly touched into the CSS penalty area by Leonel Ateba and Ahoua pounced to smash his finish into the goal.
For Group A co-leaders CS Constantine, it was a perfect result at home against Bravos do Maquis who previously surprised CSC by defeating them in Angola. Miloud Rebiai and Tosin Omoyele scored in the first half with Nigerian striker Omoyele benefiting from a fortunate ricochet off his head from Bravos goalkeeper Landu's clearance attempt.
Two late goals confirmed the lopsided victory for CS Constantine who are level on points with Simba but remain ahead by virtue of head-to-head tiebreakers. CSC will host CS Sfaxien, who have yet to earn a point in four matches, while Simba travel to face Bravos do Maquis.
