RS Berkane coach Moine Chaabani has praised the key role of his charges in defeating ASEC Mimosas 1-0 in Wednesday's quarterfinal first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup in Abidjan. The Moroccan outfit is having a superb season after being confirmed Botola Pro champions in March 2025, two months before the end of the top flight.

Tunisian coach Chaabani revealed his plans worked in the narrow win after a tough first half. “We have an understanding of how ASEC Mimosas play. They also did their research to know more about us. But today the whole plan came together. Our starting eleven and replacements worked well. We thank the players for a job well done.”

Second half substitute Imad Riahi scored the crucial goal fifteen minutes before time. RSB's Senegalese midfielder Mamadou Camara also warned the second leg will not be the same for ASEC Mimosas. “As usual at home we will attack. We are not a team that defends an advantage.”

Berkane were last season’s Confederation Cup runner-up. They are still in contention to add more silverware as they fight for the Confederation Cup, Coupe du Trône and the Excellence Cup.
