CS Constantine head coach Kheïreddine Madoui has revealed that reaching the CAF Confederation Cup semifinal will bring stability to the club after a difficult league run in 2025. Constantine defeated USM Alger in a penalty shootout to secure their place in the semifinals following a 1-1 second leg draw in Algiers.
Madoui praised his players and fans following the victory over USM Alger. “Thanks to all the players for the high-level performance in this match. We often forget our fans, but today we start with them. May God bless them! Thank you for the strong support until the final moments of the match.”
After conceding in the first half, Constantine responded well in the second. Madoui said the result gives them hope of better days ahead after a troubling spell in the Algerian Ligue 1.
“Regarding the match and today’s performance, as I said in the post-match press conference that followed the game which helped ease the crisis in Constantine — I felt that the team was psychologically liberated and free from the negative pressure we experienced during league matches.”
The former ES Sétif coach now aims to add another continental title to his résumé. Madoui previously won the CAF Champions League as head coach of ES Sétif in 2014. CS Constantine will face Moroccan champions RS Berkane in the semifinals of the Confederation Cup with the first leg taking place in Berkane on 20 April.
