Simba SC Media Officer Ahmed Ally has remained confident that they have a quality squad capable of beating Stellenbosch home and away in their quest to qualify for their first-ever final of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Msimbazi Reds will host the South African side in the first leg at the New Aman Stadium in Zanzibar on Sunday. This will mark the first-ever meeting between Simba and the Stellies, setting up an intriguing battle between coach Fadlu Davids and his compatriot Steve Barker.
“On Sunday we have a job to beat Stellenbosch. We need to get a big win, meaning we qualify for the finals right here at Aman Stadium. Let us finish them early here and what we want this year is to go to the finals. All signs show that this is a successful year for Simba. Our team is doing well and the rest is for the fans to bring support,” Ally told Pan-Africa Football.
“Our opponent is a common contender and we are better than him. We have reached the semi-finals and this does not end here, we want the final. We want to win the trophy, we want to be respected in Africa, and we want to keep experiencing African excellence.
“Another reason for wanting to go to the final is to hurt people (our rivals). There are people who get hurt, there are people who are suffering because Simba is in the semis, and we want them to continue getting hurt, we want to suppress them so that they get hurt, and to get them hurt is for Simba to go to the final. Our joy is seeing them continue to suffer. The only way to hurt someone with a bad heart is to succeed.”
Ally concluded: “Simba, let’s not accept to end our journey in the semi-finals. My brothers, the end of this journey is to reach the final. We are very capable of doing it, it is within our capacity. If we hold each other together, Simba is going to the final. There’s no reason to stay home on the 20th, please come to the stadium and support Simba.
“We want to reach the final. There is no better successful year like this, everything is going well for us. Let's go get this over with a final spot, nothing is impossible, and the good thing is we have a team to do that, get us a final ticket.”
The second leg is set for April 27 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa.
