Simba SC coach Fadlu Davids has remained confident that they will overturn the first leg defeat suffered against Al Masry in their quarter-final fixture of the Caf Confederation Cup.
In the fixture at New Suez Stadium, Al Masry secured a 2-0 advantage after notching the opener in 18th minute courtesy of Abderrahim Deghmoum for a 1-0 cushion at the half-time break before substitute John Okoye Ebuka scored the winner in the 89th minute.
“I congratulate the boys for playing the way I wanted, the only thing that we did not achieve from this game is shaking the net of the opponent,” Davids told Pan-Africa Football. “We had chances to score, and even get the second and the third but it never happened.
“We still have a chance in the return leg, I believe we will play well and get a positive result.”
The South African coach, however, took issues with officiating insisting the Msimbazi Reds were denied a clear penalty during the fixture.
“African football has a lot of things, that was a legitimate penalty for us, and despite all the noise that we made, the referee did not want to bother to go and watch the replays (on VAR), and there are a lot of things that happen when you are playing away.”
Simba will host Al Masry at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Wednesday, 9 April.
