Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids has outlined their game plan of attacking Stellenbosch from the onset when the two sides face off in the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.
The Msimbazi Reds secured a 1-0 advantage from their first leg battle at the New Aman Stadium in Zanzibar a fortnight ago, and the Stellies will host them in the return leg of this high-stakes semi-finals of the inter-club competition.
“We’ve laid the foundation, but the house isn’t built yet,” Davids told Tanzania’s IPP Media as quoted by Sowetan. “We are going into the second leg with only one objective: get an early goal and finish the job. We will not play defensively. We will not play with fear. We are not going there to settle for a draw. We want to win.
“We know Stellenbosch is a youthful team, very fast, but they struggle when pressed intensely. They crack under pressure, and that’s what we want to capitalise on. We’re not giving them time to organise, we’re going there to attack.”
Should Simba or Stellenbosch progress, they will face the winner of the other semi-final between RSB Berkane of Morocco and CS Constantine of Algeria. Berkane are in pole position to reach the final after a commanding 4-0 first-leg victory at home.
