Stellenbosch FC midfielder Sihle Nduli believes the team's 1-0 win over Zamalek SC on Wednesday has injected more belief in the South African side going into the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals.
Nduli, whose solitary late strike booted out Zamalek SC from the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal, second leg match, told beIN SPORTS that the victory was unbelievable for them.
“I'm happy to give my team an opportunity to qualify. The goal was beautiful, I expected it and positioned myself well. The goal is very important because it qualified us for the semi-finals,” he said.
"Zamalek is a good team, and beating them is important. It gives us a boost and makes us believe in ourselves more after defeating the title holders. We were better and we knew the match wouldn't be easy and things went well.”
Nduli scored in the 79th minute at the Cairo International Stadium to send the Betway Premiership side into the last-four stage where they will meet Tanzania’s Simba SC.
Steve Barker’s side had frustrated Zamalek to a goalless draw in the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal, a first-leg match played last week in South Africa before stunning the Egyptians on Wednesday in Cairo.
