Stellenbosch FC goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke has remained confident that the South African club will earn revenge against Simba SC and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup final.

The Stellies will host the Msimbazi Reds in the return leg semi-final clash of the inter-club competition having lost the first leg 1-0 at the New Aman Stadium in Zanzibar on Sunday. A first-half stoppage-time goal from Jean Charles Ahoua’s 30-yard low free kick earned Simba the semi-final advantage.

However, the goal had to be decided by VAR after a brief check, giving the Tanzanian club the edge heading into the second leg, set for April 27 in South Africa.

“The game was good, but unfortunately, we lost. But we still have a chance when they come to our home,” Masuluke told reporters after the match as quoted by FARPost. “Every team was attacking each other, so for me there was no best team because it’s Lion against Lion.

“It will be a Lion against a Lion and the other Lion is coming to our home to get another Lion there waiting for them. Let’s wait for Sunday, you guys will see.”

On the goal he conceded against Simba, Masuluke said: “I don’t have a comment. It’s a referee decision, so I have nothing to say about the goal.”

The win boosted Simba’s hopes of reaching the final of the competition for the first time in their history, with the return leg set for Sunday, April 27 at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
