With their CAF Confederation Cup fixture tied at 1-1 heading into the return leg duel, CS Constantine head coach Kheireddine Madoui has discussed the approach they will take against USM Alger on Wednesday.
The two sides will face off for the quarter-final return leg clash at Stade du 5 Juillet with the winner qualifying for the last four of the inter-club competition.
Unlike the first leg, this return match between will be truly decisive. The equalizing goal scored by USM Alger will change our approach to the second leg. We noticed several positive points within our team after the first leg, both technically and tactically, and we could have won this match,” Madoui told CAFOnline ahead of the fixture.
“We will refer to our performance to prepare for the second leg. We experienced a down period, but the team freed itself from the psychological pressure against USM Alger and we will build on that.
“On Wednesday, it will be fifty-fifty, but these are the kind of matches our team likes to play. Our goal is, of course, to qualify for the next round. We hope the match will be as fraternal as it was in the first leg.”
His player Zakaria Messibah revealed their readiness for the match: “"As CS Constantine players, we have prepared well for this match. I hope we will start the match well, just as we did in the first leg, making sure to correct our weaknesses.
“In fact, we have worked hard on this throughout the week. We need to be very focused at the start of the match. This is very important. We will do everything we can to capitalize on the opportunities we get.”
During the first leg involving an all-Algerian clash at Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui, Congolese player Kévin Mondeko scored to cancel out Constantine’s first half lead courtesy of Mounder Temine.
However, USMA will go into the clash minus Salim Boukhenchouche, who was sent off during the first leg battle.
