USM Alger's Brazilian coach Marcos Paquetá stated his side played better in the second half to snatch a one all draw at CS Constantine in their quarterfinal first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup. The game between the two Algerian sides ended in a draw to the relief of Paquetá.
“It was a good game. The players fought a lot. There were different moments during the game. I think we did not start well. During the first half we tried to fix some things. The opponent had one system to attack. That was to operate a more direct attacking football that was difficult to mark. They tried to play second ball and then use the ball to their own advantage,” said Paquetá.
Paquetá also noted they were the better side in the second half. “In the second interval I think our team played very well. We had a penalty that we did not capitalize on. That could change the outcome of the encounter. Following the equalizer, we had chances to score again. The red card was a perfect one.”
The Algerian capital club now have the upper hand going home for the second leg next Wednesday.
