Senegalese side ASC Jaraaf have positioned themselves to progress to the Caf Confederation Cup quarter-final after defeating Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas.

A lone goal by Abdoulaye Oualy was the difference between the two clubs in Diamniadio.

Jaraaf head coach Malick Daf was ecstatic with the win and told WiwSport that his charges played to win. “ "A victory is a victory! The most important thing is that we played to win it. The boys had this state of mind tonight and they demonstrated it by getting a second victory in the group stages.”

Daf noted about the experience boosted by ASEC after the vital win. “ASEC Mimosas is one of the biggest clubs in Africa. Unlike us They participate in this continental competition regularly. My boys are playing in this competition for the first time."

Jaraaf are now second with eight points, three ahead of ASEC, going to the last group game against Algerian side USM Alger.

Daf concluded they will travel to Algiers to get a win. “The team is making clear progress but we must be humble. The match against USM Alger will not be an easy one. In football nothing is impossible. We believe in our strengths and also believe that we can go for a win in Algiers.”

The 12 times Senegal Premier League champions have never qualified from the group stage of the Confederation Cup.
