Enyimba striker Brown Ideye believes the Nigerian side can progress to the next stage of the Caf Confederation Cup if they face Egyptian giants Zamalek with a lot of confidence.
The People's Elephant have a great chance to reach the knock out stage if they manage to beat the North African giants, who have already qualified from the group. The two sides will face off at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.
“We have a must-win match,” Ideye declared. “Zamalek is a formidable team, but we are focused on getting as many points as possible.
“They’re already in the next round and may rest some important players. I think we still have a chance to win this game after hearing from the chairman, Nwankwo Kanu.”
Before departing for Cairo, Enyimba issued a statement urging their fans that they will go to Egypt to fight to the end and get a ticket for the next stage.
“With Zamalek already through to the next round, they are no longer under pressure and it is an advantage for us. The players are aware of how big the challenge is and it is time to give it one last shot,” read part of the statement.
“When we saw the draws, we knew it was not going to be easy. However, we are a club steeped in the history of CAF football competitions and have faced mountain-like obstacles which we surmounted. We have that strong mentality and it is what we should take into the game.
“We should bannish the unpleasant memories of the last game and move ahead. Like it is said in football, it is not over until it is over. We will go to Egypt, we will fight till the end and hopefully, we will have a reason to smile again.”
Enyimba are sitting third in Group D with five points, while Zamalek have garnered 11 points and second placed Al Masry are on six points and they will play against Black Bulls.
