Swiss coach Christian Gross, the head coach of Zamalek SC, stated that his team deserved to win against Mozambican champions Black Bulls in their match on Sunday in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Zamalek secured a 3-1 victory in the fifth round of the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup. In the post-match press conference, the head coach said: "We controlled the game and translated our dominance into goals. Things become easier after scoring the first goal."
Gross continued: "I am waiting to find out who Zamalek will face after the final round of the group stage. I am happy with the performance and I believe Zamalek has the ability to deliver even better levels in the upcoming period."
The coach added: "I spoke calmly to the players during halftime to correct some mistakes and assured them that if they followed the instructions, we would score. That is exactly what I told the players."
Gross further commented: "I will review the goal Zamalek conceded to identify the mistake and address it in the future."
He added: "I am pleased with Ahmed Mostafa Zizo's performance with the team, especially as he is one of the important and influential players in the squad. I will work tirelessly with the current squad and there are some players who need to prove they deserve to be part of Zamalek."
Speaking about Mahmoud Bentayg’s participation as a left winger, Gross said: "The tight match schedule forces me to test players in different positions and I am happy with Bentaig's return after his injury. We don’t have time to play friendly matches to prepare all the players so I monitor their condition and prepare them in the best possible way."
Zamalek assistant coach Amir Azmi Mujahid also expressed satisfaction, stating that the positive aspect of today's match against Black Bulls in the CAF Confederation Cup was achieving victory and securing qualification for the quarter-finals.
In statements following the match, he said: "We were eager to secure qualification before the final round in order to prepare all players and play more comfortably in the upcoming match against Nigeria's Enyimba."
He continued: "It is also good to have the return of both Moroccan Mahmoud Bentayg and Mohamed El-Sayed after their recovery from injury."
Amir Azmi concluded: "Zamalek has excellent forwards like Nasser Mansi and Hossam Ashraf, and the latter's brilliance is natural as he gives his all on the pitch."
