Moroccan club AS FAR came back to draw 1-1 in Kinshasa against hosts AS Maniema Union in action from Group B of the CAF Champions League on Saturday. AS FAR and Angola national team left back Tó Carneiro scored in the second half to give the Group B leaders a valuable point away from home after Exaucia Moanda opened the scoring with a header for hosts Maniema Union who now have draws in all three of their matches so far.

It was nearly a dream start for visitors AS FAR who were denied a goal in the opening minute by a brilliant save from Maniema Union goalkeeper Brunel Efonge and desperate defending. However the hosts gathered themselves against the match favorites and it was defender Moanda who took advantage of awful marking by the AS FAR defense to nod in a corner kick service from Basiala Amongo.

The second half was rather uneventful but brought relief to the AS FAR supporters who saw their team level through a moment of brilliance. In the 62nd minute, Carneiro received the ball on the left wing and executed a splendid combination with captain Mohamed Hrimat before firing his shot past Efonge.

All things considered it was an ideal result for AS FAR and another sign of how dangerous an opponent unfancied Maniema Union have proven themselves to be on this big stage.
