Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca appeared set for a CAF Champions League victory away from home but Joseph Bakasu's late long range strike salvaged a point in Kinshasa for hosts AS Maniema Union in a 1-1 draw. Bakasu's equalizer cancelled out a first half strike from Raja forward Younes Najari in Group B where the Congolese club have two points from two matches while Raja collected their first point.
Maniema Union, playing their CAF Champions League home matches at the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa, showed positivity but were scorched by an effect Raja counter attack in the 17th minute. The Congolese club's defense was scattered and Raja playmaker Naoufel Zerhouni set up Najari for a composed finish to put the visitors ahead.
Raja defended effectively for long stretches of the match and nearly doubled their lead with another counter attack in the 71st minute but a desperate tackle from the Maniema defense prevented another assist for Zerhouni.
Ten minutes later the hosts leveled with a stroke of genius from Bakasu who fired a perfect strike from distance (video below) past Raja goalkeeper Anas Zniti to leave the Moroccan club disappointed with only a point from the match
