Young Africans (Yanga SC) midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki has revealed the importance of their Caf Champions League fixture against Al Hilal of Sudan on Sunday.
The Tanzanian Mainland Premier League champions will come up against a side that has already qualified with two matches to spare at the Cheikha Ouldi Boidiya Stadium in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
“On behalf of the players our target remains to continue playing in the next round of the competition and to achieve the target we have to put a lot of energy in the remaining two matches starting with the game against Al Hilal,” Aziz Ki told Pan-Africa Football.
“We will do all we can to get a win, it is what we have come for, if we don’t win then we get in trouble, we will have to be at our best to achieve the win, we know what we need to do and that is what we will do against Al Hilal.”
Al Hilal defeated Yanga 2-0 in the first round meeting and asked whether they are going for revenge, Aziz Ki said: “I don’t know anything to do with revenge, what I know we want to win the game, if that is revenge, then fine. We only need to win our remaining two matches to be assured of reaching the quarters, and we will work hard to achieve that.
“I will be happy to play in the quarter-finals again, it is a great feeling and a team like Yanga deserves to play in the competition and even win it.”
As it stands, Yanga are sitting third with four points accumulated from one win, one draw and two defeats. Al Hilal are at the top with 10 points while MC Alger, whom Yanga will face at home in their final group match are third with eight points.
