Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has revealed their readiness to face MC Alger in the return leg of the CAF Champions League.

Pirates produced a great show of resilience to steal a crucial 1-0 win in the opening leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against MC Alger which took place at Stade du 5 Juillet ahead of the return leg scheduled for Wednesday at Orlando Stadium.

“It’s a second half of this quarter-final of the champions league so there’s no other way to face the match than really proud to be here of the last eight of the competition, a very complex competition,” Riveiro said as quoted by idiskitimes.

“We want to enjoy, every moment, every minute of the game, not forgetting the responsibility that we have and the opportunity we have to win the match – to try to beat MC Alger one more time and hopefully to find ourselves in the next round.

“We know it will be a big challenge because of the moment of the competition and the level of opponents as well – but we’re ready. I think we have a massive game tomorrow that requires and demands our full concentration and the best of our capacity as a technical staff, the guys as football players, they are the ones who are going to work outside at 6 o clock.”

On whether Pirates were ready, he said: “We need to be 100% focus in that responsibility that is presented to us, there’s no place to think about anything else than giving our best tomorrow, that’s maybe the maximum we can think about our future, it’s tomorrow.

“I will say even today, we complete the MD-1 training, we need to continue with our preparations until kick-off then we gonna play the game. We’re going to try our best and then whatever is coming for us in future, let’s see but we’re just about to start the game and trust me, not the coach, or anyone else around is thinking about anything else than winning the game.”

Relebohile Mofokeng scored the only goal in the away fixture to give Pirates the advantage.
