Pyramids FC announced that their delegation faced several difficulties during their stay in Morocco in preparation for their upcoming match against AS FAR in the CAF Champions League quarterfinal return leg.
Pyramids will face AS FAR of Morocco at 7:00 PM GMT on Tuesday at the Cherif El Idrissi Stadium in Meknes, Morocco, after winning the first leg in Cairo 4-1.
The club explained that the delegation faced issues regarding the training pitch that was scheduled for their first training session in Morocco. They had agreed with more than four different stadiums to host the session, but all of them apologized for not being able to host the training for unknown reasons.
The Egyptian club pointed out that AS FAR had confirmed hosting the training at their own sports complex. However, when the delegation arrived for the training session they were surprised by an apology from the club’s officials stating that they could no longer host the session for unspecified reasons.
Pyramids added that after communications with the delegation’s officials and what they described as AS FAR's failure to take responsibility regarding the training pitch, the delegation had to travel to the city of Kenitra to hold the session which is over seventy minutes away from Pyramids’ base in Rabat.
The Egyptian club also mentioned that AS FAR had made calls to prevent any stadium in Rabat from hosting Pyramids’ training.
Pyramids further clarified that when the delegation arrived at the stadium, they were shocked by the poor condition of the academy's pitch, which was not ready to host the training session.
They described that it was full of potholes and bumps, forcing the technical staff to cancel the main training and settle for a light session inside the stadium to avoid player injuries ahead of the crucial match.
As a result, Pyramids’ delegation decided to file an official complaint against AS FAR with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for what they described as a breach of their commitments, failure to provide the training pitch, and informing Pyramids of the cancellation just half an hour before the scheduled session without providing an alternative.
