Group D in the CAF Champions League finished up its second round of matches on Sunday with a 0-0 draw between hosts Djoliba of Mali and Egypt's Pyramids FC in Bamako. The Cairo club move into first place in the Group on four points, holding the edge over Tunisian giants Espérance due to a superior goal difference. Djoliba are level on one point with Angola's Sagrada Esperança who also managed a 0-0 draw at home against Espérance.

A nervous start for Djoliba indicated that Pyramids were perhaps set for a routine victory away from home but the Malian club increased their level over the course of the match. However, poor finishing was the theme of the match with only one effort from Djoliba going on target.

Pyramids, who rotated some players into the starting eleven, managed a couple more shots on goal but failed to dominate their less fancied opponents. The Egyptian club and Espérance looked destined to fight for top spot beginning next weekend when the first clash in Tunis.
