Pyramids FC attacker Mostafa Fathi revealed some about the Egyptian club's strategy and mentality on Saturday against Orlando Pirates in the first leg of their CAF Champions League semifinal clash.
The big spending Cairo club will take on Pirates at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg at 17:00 GMT. Fierce home support is expected for the Bucs who are in strong form under head coach Jose Riveiro.
"We know what we are going to do tomorrow," Fathi said in comments recorded by Youm7. "God willing, we'll achieve a positive result to bring back to Egypt."
Fathi explained a little more about the team's mentality and how to keep their success this season from leading to arrogance or complacency: "We are leading the (Egyptian Premier) league and have reached the Egypt Cup final, but we need to separate ourselves from all of this to reach the final (of the Champions League) and then focus back on the league and cup."
The 30-year-old is likely to play a major role for Pyramids. An unpredictable winger, Fathi has been one of the most productive members of the attack. His dribbling and ability to score sensational goals could produce an important away goal in South Africa and his role is increased due to the absence of star winger Ibrahim Adel.
Fathi's brace in a comeback 2-1 group stage victory over Tunisia's Espérance was one of the highlights of the Champions League this season. Likely to line up alongside explosive Congolese striker Fiston Mayele, Pyramids will look to Fathi to inspire an attack weakened by injuries.
