CAFCL: Sudan's Al Hilal send passionate plea to fans ahead of second leg clash with Al Ahly

Facing a tall order ahead of a decisive match against Al Ahly, Al Hilal SC have sent a passionate plea to Mauritanian fans seeking their support in Tuesday’s CAF Champions League quarterfinal second leg match.
Hilal, hosting matches in Mauritania due to the civil war in Sudan, go into the CAF Champions League quarterfinal second leg match trailing 1-0 from the first leg defeat in Cairo last week.
Ahead of the match, Florent Ibenge’s side has released statements calling for support from the home fans as they seek to stun the Egyptians and book a semifinal slot.
“For the Mauritanian fans, we ask for your support. Stand with us after at Sheikh Badia Stadium in the match of your representatives against Al Ahly in the quarterfinals,” the statement reads.
Al Ahli SC’s player Guessouma Fofana has also released a video on the club’s Facebook page echoing his club’s call to the fans.
“Thank you to the fans for coming to Cairo to support us. We really appreciate it. We hope you will be here in the second leg for us to fight and to qualify [for the semifinal],” he said.
Al Ahly have dominated matches against the Sudanese opponents in the CAF Champions League after having won six times with two defeats and the other tie being a draw.
The two teams have not been in their best form in the CAF Champions League with the holders winning thrice, losing twice and drawing once in the last six games. Al Hilal are smarting from three consecutive defeats in the continental league with the other results being two wins and a draw.
