Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has maintained that the club’s ambitions is to go all the way and win the Caf Champions League after their first leg 1-0 win against Esperance Sportive de Tunis at Loftus Versfeld on Tuesday.

It only took nine minutes inside the restart for the Brazilians to find the back of the net, and it was Shalulile’s tap-in that broke the deadlock after Jayden Adams had assisted him.

“We all want to be champions of Africa. We all want to win, so we will do our best and we will keep on believing,” said Shalulile as quoted by FARPost.

On what players he looks up to, the Namibian forward said: “As a striker, you always want to score goals, not compete with other people but compete with yourself because you are inspired by players playing outside the country, who are like Cristiano Ronaldo and [Erling] Haaland.

“But then it’s a good feeling. It [scoring goals] wants me to work harder, and I give credit to the coaches that I have worked with.

“The ones off the scene and on the pitch, the ones that do the finishing drills with me. Those are the people that I give credit to and most of all to God, who always gives me the opportunity to score.”

A good fight was fought by the Pretoria-based because in the end, they emerged victorious through Shalulile’s only goal of the encounter. Up next for Masandawana, is the second leg of these quarter-finals which will take place in Tunisia on Tuesday night.

All the best boys, you can do it, but beware of their tricks and don't play to their tricks, stay focus on the job at hand. There is no fair play up north. Stay rigid and compacted.
