Young Africans (Yanga SC) Media Officer Ali Kamwe has cautioned the club fans to stop underrating MC Alger whom they will face in their final Group A match in the CAF Champions League at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Saturday.
According to Kamwe, the matchday six fixture will be tough for Yanga since they have to win to be assured of progressing to the knock out stages of the competition.
“I have been reading and seeing in social media Yanga fans talking about the MC Alger, they are talking as if this game is very easy for Yanga, they believe Yanga have already won the game,” Kamwe told Pan-Africa Football.
“They (fans) are talking as if MC Alger is a very light team and beatable to the extent of saying this game is already done and Yanga have won it. Let me be bold enough and tell them we are making a huge mistake. This game is still very difficult and it deserves tough preparations to succeed.”
Kamwe continued: “I remember when we played against USM Alger in the same competition last season, we had similar confidence heading into the game at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. We talked saying we had high hopes of winning it, we even said we will beat them here and then get a draw away and that confidence, the visiting team used it well to win the game.
“I beg Yanga fans, please don’t take this game lightly and remember MC Alger will qualify with two outcomes if they draw or win. But us (Yanga) we have to get one result from the game, to win the game to progress, let us not talk about this game as if it a very normal game. It is a very difficult game.”
Yanga are currently sitting third in Group A with seven points while MC Alger are topping with 10 points.
