Young Africans (Yanga SC) head coach Sead Ramovic has remained confident that they have what it takes to beat MC Alger and qualify for the knock out stages of the Caf Champions League this season.
Yanga will host the Algerian outfit in their final Group A fixture at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium seeking a win to be assured of playing in the next stage of the competition.
“We know the importance of this game, we know what is at stake and it is not us only, even our opponents know how important this game is. They know what they want, as Yanga we know what we want and I have a strong belief we have a good chance to beat them,” Ramovic told Pan-Africa Football.
“What makes me even more confident is the fact my players have started to understand what I want from them, they are playing according to how I want them to play, we want to be very good defensively and attack as a unit.
“We will do everything to win the game, we are going to fight for every ball, defend and attack at the same time, and my main focus is to make sure that we dominate the game. If we manage to dominate the game, then the outcome will be positive.”
Ramovic further confirmed the absence of midfielder Maxi Nzengeli through an injury but remained confident that he has a squad of 24 players who are ready to fight for the team.
“Maxi (Nzengeli) is a very good player, talented and with top quality but he is not ready to play and I don’t want to rush him. Clatous Chama is back in training but I don’t have to rush him too because I already have a squad of 24 players who are fit and ready to play,” added Ramovic.
He concluded: “Our main target tomorrow (Saturday) is to win the game, my players are ready and we are confident of winning the game, though it will not be an easy one. We know it will be a tough game with a lot of pressure but my players understand how to handle such.”
The Timu ya Mwananchi currently sit in third place with seven points, trailing MC Alger, who are second with eight points. A win for Young Africans would take them to 10 points, securing a quarter-final berth and leapfrogging MC Alger.
