Young Africans head coach Sead Ramovic has remained cautious that his charges have still one more step to tackle before they confirm their qualification to the knock out stages of the Caf Champions League.

The Tanzanian Premier League champions increased their chances to qualify following a hard-fought 1-0 against Al Hilal, who had already reached the quarter-final spot with two games to spare.

In a tense fifth-round Group A clash, at the Cheikha Ould Boidiya Stadium in Nouakchott, Mauritania, Yanga star midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki netted the lone goal in the eighth minute to keep alive their qualification hopes.

“This win was a step in the right direction, but we have one more challenge to overcome. We must give everything on January 18 to achieve our goal,” said Ramovic as quoted by the Guardian.

The win was Yanga’s second consecutive in the group, following their 3-1 triumph over DR Congo’s TP Mazembe in Dar es Salaam on January 4.

The victory further enabled Yanga to sit third in the group with seven points, just one behind second-placed MC Algers, who have eight points, and three behind the group leaders, Al Hilal, who are sitting comfortably on 10 points and had already qualified with two matches to spare.

Yanga will now finish their group matches with a must-win home game against MC Alger at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on January 18.
