Al Ahly has officially notified both the Egyptian Football Association and the Professional Clubs’ Association that it will not take part in Tuesday evening's Cairo Derby against rivals Zamalek in the Nile League. This decision is based on resolutions issued during the club’s emergency board meeting held this morning.
Al Ahly reaffirmed its insistence on postponing the match until the Professional Clubs’ Association’s decision regarding the league’s organization is fully implemented. The club also emphasized the importance of ensuring fairness among all teams and expressed its desire for the match to be officiated by a foreign refereeing crew to guarantee complete neutrality in managing crucial fixtures.
In the event that its demands are not met, Al Ahly announced that it will reconsider its participation in the league. The club’s board of directors remains in continuous session to monitor all developments and take the necessary decisions to safeguard the club’s rights and its supporters.
Al Ahly currently sits in second place on 39 points, three points behind leaders Pyramids FC. Zamalek are ten points back of Pyramids in third place on 32 points.
