Nigeria international Calvin Bassey grabbed the winning goal as a dominant Fulham performance saw them dispatch high-flying Nottingham Forest 2-1 in a Premier League fixture at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The Whites had all of the play in the opening 45 minutes, only to go into the break level after Chris Wood had cancelled out Emile Smith Rowe’s opener.

But a similarly positive display in the second half saw the Cottagers claim all three points, with Bassey’s first goal of the season proving the difference.

Bassey, who played for the entire game, rose the highest at the far post to head home what turned out to be the winner in the 62nd minute. Another Nigeria player, winger Alex Iwobi, also featured in the game.

Iwobi was, however, withdrawn in the 90th minute for the returning Willian. Bassey has made 24 league appearances, scored one goal and is yet to provide an assist.
