Major League Soccer club New England Revolution added their second African player this week, confirming the loan signing of Cameroonian forward Ignatius Ganago from French Ligue 1 side Nantes on Friday.

The loan is for a period of six months stretching to the middle of the 2025 MLS season with the Revolution having the option to extend the loan until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old has an opportunity to regain long lost form with a club that is looking to rebuild in the American top division. Ganago has not scored a goal since the 2022-23 season with Nantes after making eighteen appearances across the last two seasons, at one point suffering a long-term knee injury that kept him inactive from November 2023 to June 2024. Since moving to France as an 18-year-old in 2017, Ganago has 20 goals in 153 Ligue 1 appearances.

The Revolution, based near the city of Boston in the northeast of the United States, had a disastrous 2024 season that saw the Revs finish close to the foot of the table and miss the playoffs. Ganago adds depth to an attack that recently added Ecuadorian striker Leonardo Campana from Lionel Messi's Inter Miami to lead the attacking line.

Ganago, known to also be capable of operating as a forward on either flank, could be a versatile option under Revolution coach Caleb Porter who is known to utilize a 4-3-3 formation. The Revolution begin their 2025 season on February 22 at Nashville SC and their first preseason match is on January 21 against Austin FC.
