Cape Town City interim head coach Muhsin Ertugral has taken issues with the congested fixtures in the Betway Premiership.

Having played against Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants in a space of three days, Cape Town City are scheduled to take on Richards Bay at Athlone Stadium on Friday.

According to the Turkish coach, the congested fixtures is draining his players and said his questioning was to protect his players.

“I’m not complaining about two games. I’m complaining about Wednesday; I got two teams. I don’t seem sort of any team in this country playing one of the next in three days, teams that really have a pedigree and they’re not a child’s play,” Ertugral told the media as quoted by idiskitimes.

“We play really a difficult game, and then you need to come three days later. Is there anyone playing from this? Chiefs is not playing; Pirates is not playing. Hello, where are they? So why must we come here to Bloemfontein? Bring a little bit of sensitivity on the fixtures.”

He continued: “Sorry about that, maybe you will say, No, I’m bitter. No, no, not bitter. You need to protect those boys. Yeah, they are human, so they play three days their heart out and need to come here to play again.

“So how is that going to possible? Then I make a mistake. Maybe I need to change the full squad. Maybe is that the decision that you need to take, and you take high, but you don’t have so many players, we can rotate it so it’s not an excuse. No, you guys will right now. No, no, it’s not an excuse. But I think giving the credit to the boys that has to be done.”

Cape Town beat Chiefs 1-0, Pirates 1-0 before losing 1-0 against Marumo in their last three matches.
