Cape Town City FC has parted ways with interim coach Muhsin Ertugral after a nine-game winless run across all competitions in the South African top flight.

The Betway Premiership team confirmed the departure of the Turkish mentor two days after a 1-0 loss to Marumo Gallants left the Citizens fourth from the bottom of the log.

“After technical discussions, the club and Muhsin Ertugral have agreed mutually to part ways. The decision comes as a collective in the best interest of the club as we look to end the 24/25 season as strong as possible. We thank Muhsin for his professional and earnest contribution,” the statement reads.

The Cape Town-based team has since named first-team coach Diogo Peral as the caretaker mentor with Lebogang Manyama and Roger De Sa as his assistants.

Etrugral joined the team in January 2025 to replace Eric Tinkler who was sacked while City were in 12th place. The former Kaizer Chiefs trainer has left the side in 13th place.
