South Africa U-20 national team and Cape Town City midfielder Xhosa Manyana will be off to the United States at the end of January after the 19-year-old secured a loan transfer to the reserve team of Major League Soccer's FC Cincinnati.
Cape Town City announced the move on their social media channels and FC Cincinnati revealed the loan on their website. Manyana will be assigned to Cincinnati's reserve team, FC Cincinnati 2, to compete in MLS Next Pro where MLS' reserve teams compete. The loan will last for six months through July with an option for FC Cincinnati to purchase Manyana permanently.
Manyana has yet to make his professional debut for Cape Town City but has experience with South Africa youth national teams. He played for South Africa's U-17 national team at the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations as well as the U-20 team at the U-20 COSAFA Championship, making three appearances as South Africa won the regional youth tournament.
The MLS season begins on February 22 but dates have not been announced yet for the forthcoming MLS Next Pro season.
