Egyptian club Ceramica Cleopatra officially announced the appointment of Ali Maher as their new head coach following the departure of Ayman El-Ramadi.
The club parted ways with El-Ramadi earlier today after a string of poor results. Under his leadership, Ceramica Cleopatra failed to secure a single victory in their last five league matches, suffering three defeats in the process.
Despite the poor run of form, the team currently sits seventh in the Nile Egyptian League standings with 21 points and has successfully progressed to the Egypt Cup quarterfinals.
El-Ramadi leaves behind a historic legacy at Ceramica Cleopatra, having won the club’s only two major trophies—the Egyptian League Cup on two occasions. He managed Ceramica Cleopatra in 60 matches securing 23 wins, 17 draws, and 20 losses. His team scored 92 goals and conceded 79.
Maher’s appointment comes just one day after his departure from Al Masry, where he had been in charge since the summer of 2023. During his tenure, he led the team in 67 matches recording 33 wins, 16 draws, and 18 losses. His side scored 88 goals while conceding 71.
In his first season, Maher guided Al Masry to a fourth-place finish in the Nile Egyptian League, securing qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup. This season, he successfully led them to the quarterfinals of the continental competition where they will face Tanzania’s Simba SC.
However, recent domestic results contributed to his exit. Al Masry managed just three wins in their last 11 league matches and failed to claim victory in their last three games.
The team currently occupies fifth place in the Nile Egyptian League with 24 points, trailing National Bank by just one point in fourth and sitting four points behind third-placed Zamalek. They have also advanced to the Egypt Cup's Round of 16 stage.
