The support and vibe of the crowd at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo was deafening, but for Isaac Ogwang, it was a symphony of validation.

Scoring on his senior Uganda Cranes debut during the CHAN 2024 Qualifiers first leg against Burundi marked the culmination of years of dedication and unrelenting effort. Ogwang, who had previously only featured for the Cranes in regional tours, made the most of his opportunity in his first official appearance.

The Police FC striker left a lasting impression with his decisive performance, earning plaudits from fans and teammates alike.

Reflecting on his achievement, Ogwang shared his emotions in an interview with fufa.co.ug: “Being summoned to the national team is a reward for hard work, and scoring on my debut is an incredible feeling.

"It’s every footballer’s dream to wear the national colours, and for me, it’s a dream come true. This is just the beginning of the journey, which calls for even more hard work to remain part of the team. Hosting CHAN is a great opportunity for all players and every Ugandan. Who wouldn’t want to be part of history?”

Ogwang’s football journey has been marked by stints at KJT FC, Sparta FC, SC Villa and Arua Hill, before his current role at Police FC. Known for his pace, aggression, and eye for goal, Ogwang hopes to use his debut as a stepping stone for future success with the Cranes.

With Uganda hosting CHAN 2024 along with Kenya and Tanzania, the team is poised to make history on home soil and Ogwang’s rise encapsulates the resilience and ambition driving the squad toward glory.
