Ghana's home based senior national team defeated Togo by 2-0 in an international friendly in preparation for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against their bitter rivals Nigeria.
The Black Galaxies scored two early first half goals courtesy of Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah in the 3rd minute and the second from Basake Holy Stars defensive midfielder Issah Yakubu on the 27th minute mark. The game is part of coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani’s quest to put up a strong squad for the journey to the next CHAN tournament.
The Black Galaxies will take on Nigeria in a two-legged qualifier with the first leg set to take place in Accra on December 20 before the reverse fixture a week later at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
The last time both sides met in a CHAN qualifier was in 2022, where Ghana edged Nigeria on penalties to secure qualification. The winner over the two legs qualifies for the 2024 CHAN set to be hosted in Uganda, Tanzania and either Kenya or Rwanda in February.
