The squad of Burkina Faso was announced ahead of their qualifying duel against Ivory Coast for a place in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The Stallions will travel to Abidjan for the first leg on December 22 before both teams travel to Bamako, Mali for the second leg where Burkina Faso are the designated host team.

The clash between neighbors is one of the more intriguing battles in the final round of CHAN qualifying. Burkina Faso coach Issa Balboné has a squad that contains plenty of experience but also a couple of young talents. 18-year-old forward Jack Diarra scored two goals for Burkina Faso at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup and is enjoying an excellent season in the nation's top division Fasofoot D1 with six goals in eight matches for Salitas FC, second in the league.

Among the more experienced players, 32-year-old USFA defender Patrick Malo has spent time with the senior national team accumulating four appearances at two editions of the Africa Cup of Nations (2017 and 2021). AS Douanes attacking midfielder Clément Pitroipa played at the 2021 edition as well and is joined by club teammate Kalifa Nikiema, a 23-year-old central midfielder who played at the 2019 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Stallions are currently preparing for the first leg in Abidjan. Earlier in the week the team played two friendly matches against Niger in Niamey, winning the first clash 1-0 before a 0-0 draw in the second match.
