Niger secured qualification for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) after the Menas and Togo played to a 0-0 second leg draw on Friday in Bamako, Mali. Tied 1-1 on the aggregate score, Niger qualify due to the away goal tiebreaker after scoring in a 1-1 result from the first leg played in Togo.

The Menas qualify for their third consecutive appearance at the CHAN finals and their fifth appearance overall. Niger were one of the success stories at the 2022 edition played in Algeria where they stunned Ghana in the quarterfinals before falling to the hosts by a 5-0 score in the semifinals.

Niger join co-hosts Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya at the finals as well as Morocco and Tunisia who qualified after fellow North African nations Algeria, Libya and Egypt withdrew from the qualifying competition. Qualifying will finish on Saturday and Sunday after which the entire 16-team field at the finals will be determined.
