Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has reduced his initial 38-man provisional squad to 28 players as preparations intensify for the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Following three days of non-residential intense training sessions, the selected players will enter residential training at Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisasi which will commence on Monday.
The team continues to gear up for the CHAN tournament, set to take place in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from 1st to 28th February 2025. The draw event to determine the group stage fixtures will be conducted on Wednesday, 15th January 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya.
Players like Ibrahim Tembo, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Moses Aliro and Walter Ochora have been dropped from the squad. Injuries have also ruled out Sadat Anaku and Milton Karisa while Denis Omedi and Hakim Kiwanuka joined APR FC of Rwanda which automatically ruled them out as the tournament is meant for locally based players. Meanwhile, Uganda Cubs stars Isima Magala and Brian Ijara were also excluded.
