DR Congo called up 24 players for their upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying doubleheader against Chad. The first leg is slated for December 21 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
Coach Otis Ngoma Kondi revamped the CHAN squad and only retained two players from the team that participated in CHAN 2022. The much younger squad includes several players from TP Mazembe. Goalkeeper Siadi Baggio and attacker Jonathan Ikangalombo are the only players in the roaster who are not new to the competition after taking part in the last edition in 2022.
TP Mazembe midfielder Oscar Tshikomb, scorer in Mazembe's CAF Champions League defeat to Al-Hilal Omdurman, was among the new names called in after debuting in November for the senior Leopards team in their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Ethiopia.
Ngoma used the last training camp in Kinshasa to vet his squad for the upcoming qualifier.
Ngoma is under pressure from Leopards supporters after a series of disappointing outings and will be seeking redemption in this CHAN campaign after the Congolese were eliminated at the group stage in the 2022 edition played in Algeria, finishing last in a group that included Ivory Coast, Uganda and eventual champions Senegal.
