Flames train: Football Association of Malawi.
Malawi coach Kalisto Pasuwa has added three more players to his squad ahead of Sunday’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) play-off against Comoros.
After summoning Silver Strikers' experienced forward Binwell Katinji to beef up the Flames squad, Pasuwa has added another player from the champions’ camp Uchizi Vunga.
Defender Chawanangwa Gumbo from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Moyale Barracks’ Emmanuel Allan are the other additions. Meanwhile, the Flames have shifted camp base from Blantyre to the capital Lilongwe where the game will be played at Bingu National Stadium.
Pasuwa is making a U-turn after dropping many experienced players, including last season’s Golden Boot Award winner Isaac Kaliati, his Mighty Wanderers team-mate Stanley Sanudi and Silver midfielder Chimwemwe Idana.
The Flames face Comoros again at the same venue in the reverse fixture on February 8, 2025, following the request of the islanders who do not have a certified venue.
The winner of that match will face the winner between South Africa and Egypt in May for a place at the CHAN finals.
