Cameroonian striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is set to join Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls after confirmation of his physical over the past week. The 35-year-old striker left Bayern Munich during the summer of 2024 after his contract ended and has been without a club for the past five months.
The German born forward had stints in Germany, England and France. He turned out for some of the biggest clubs in Europe as he donned the shirts of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich where he was a reliable depth option to provide cover. He won two Ligue 1 and three Bundesliga titles during his stays in France and Germany.
Choupo-Moting has already passed his medical at New York Red Bulls and has reportedly inked a two-year contract with a club option for an additional season according to Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg. He will be joining his new team for the 2025 Major League Soccer campaign.
New York Red Bulls have yet to officially confirm the move. The club, affiliated with RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg, reached the final of the MLS Cup playoffs where they lost by a 2-1 score to LA Galaxy.
