Eswatini coach Zdravko Logarusic says his charges cannot wait to meet Cameroon on Wednesday in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers describing the Indomitable Lions as one of the best teams in Africa.

The Croatian said this in a pre-match interview in South Africa where Eswatini will host the Indomitable Lions in the Group D qualifier at Mbombela Stadium.

“What is very important is that tomorrow we have to see a big national team full of stars,” he said.

“It will be just me and the players. We can't wait to meet them [Cameroon] on the field. We know they are absolute favourites. Tomorrow is a big day for us. We will try to prepare ourselves properly and represent our country properly,” he said.

Logarusic added that he had no particular target from the game save for telling the players to relax.

“I try to tell them that on the field, it is 11 versus 11. Our target is to show the best of ourselves. We are a small country with a small league and not much population but let’s show the best of ourselves on the field of play,” he added.

The former Zimbabwe trainer then insisted that it was difficult talking about exploiting the Indomitable Lions’ weakness. Responding to a question from a Cameroonian reporter, Logarusic said: “You talk about the weaknesses of Cameroon. Are you sure? You have weaknesses?”

The coach added: “We will try to organize ourselves and have a proper game to represent ourselves properly.”

Eswatini has a modest side comprising the likes of Zambia’s ZESCO United defender Lindo Mkhonta, Mxolisi Mkhontfo (Jwaneng Galaxy F.C.- Botswana), and Justice Figareido of Bay United FC in South Africa.

Apart from the trio, experienced striker Felix Badenhorst, who plays for Royal Leopard FC, is Sihlangu’s inspiration up front. Sihlangu will also face Mauritius on Sunday, 23rd March 2025 after the game against Cameroon.

Sihlangu anchor Group D of the World Cup qualifiers without a point in four games, whereas second-from-the-bottom Mauritius have four points and leaders Cameroon eight.
