The Uganda U-17 Women’s National Team head coach, Sheryl Botes Ulanda has rallied Ugandans to support the Teen Cranes as they gear up for their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualification matches against Namibia.

Speaking ahead of the crucial fixtures, Coach Botes praised the role of schools’ football in developing young talent, highlighting that most of the 39 players named in the provisional squad are products of schools competitions.

She emphasized that such grassroots initiatives remain pivotal for the growth of women’s football in Uganda. “Our young stars are the future of football in Uganda, and they need the country’s full backing to succeed on this big stage. Schools football has played a vital role in nurturing these players, and their hard work is about to pay off,” Botes said.

The Teen Cranes entered residential camp at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru on Wednesday evening. The team will hold a single training session today, January 10, at 4:00 PM as part of their preparation.

Uganda will face Namibia in a two-legged tie, with both matches taking place at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. The first leg is scheduled for Thursday, January 16, and the second leg will follow three days later, on January 19.
