The third match played in the Round of 64 at the Algerian Cup featured a dramatic 2-1 victory for JS Saoura over USM Khenchela in a duel between Ligue 1 clubs on Thursday.
The two mid-table Ligue 1 sides battled to a scoreless draw during regulation time, creating plenty of opportunities but failing to find a goal. In extra time, JSS took the lead in the 96th minute through Oussama Bentaleb.
However the intensity only accelerated after Bentaleb's opener. A red card was issued to Khenchela in the second half of extra time after a foul denied a clear goal scoring opportunity for JSS. On the ensuing free kick, a splendid effort from Mohamed Taib curled beyond the reach of the USMK goalkeeper to give JSS a two-goal lead.
Khenchela found a late goal in the 118th minute but it was not enough for the visitors to complete a revival. JSS will face a club from the second division Ligue 2 in the next round depending on the winner between RC Kouba and GC Mascara.
