Algerian club CR Belouizdad will face Ivorian side Stade Abidjan in the second round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
Ahead of the match, Belouizdad head coach Abdelkader Amrani described the importance of the match and stated, as reported by the website of Algerian outlet Ennahar TV: “Our match against Stade Abidjan is very important and cannot end in a draw.”
He added: “We have no other option against Stade Abidjan than to return with a victory to go as far as possible in this African competition. Remaining in the group stage race depends on this match and we have no choice but to win.”
He also mentioned: “It’s true that our opponent, Stade Abidjan, lost their last match, but every game is different.”
Amrani further explained: “We need to do what’s necessary to win the game, manage the first 15 minutes well, avoid mistakes, and focus entirely. The match will be open from both teams and from our side we must rely on speed in our play with short passes and impose our rhythm on the game.”
The match will take place on Saturday, December 7 at 4:00 PM GMT. Belouizdad lost their first match against Orlando Pirates 2-1 while Stade Abidjan was defeated by Al Ahly 4-2.
