FIFA has released the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Rankings, with Uganda’s senior women’s national team, the Crested Cranes, maintaining its 148th position globally.
Despite their February exit from the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers at the hands of Ethiopia, Sheryl Botes’ side remains unmoved in the latest rankings. The team has held the same position since December 2024.
Ethiopia, which eliminated Uganda from the qualifiers, sits 128th in the world rankings.
At the summit, reigning FIFA Women’s World Cup champions Spain and the United States continue to dominate, holding the top two positions. Japan has surged into the top five after clinching the SheBelieves Cup while Sweden, Canada, and Brazil each slipped a place in the standings.
In East Africa, Kenya and Tanzania emerged as the biggest climbers, each leaping seven places. Tanzania now ranks 138th, while Kenya sits 142nd. Both nations remain in contention for a place at the 2026 WAFCON after reaching the final qualifying round.
