Borussia Dortmund celebrated a huge 6-0 win over Union Berlin on Saturday in their Bundesliga Round 23 encounter. Serhou Guirassy was the star of the show after he netted four goals in the rout. The Guinea national team star continues to be in good scoring form for the Black and Yellow this season.
Guirassy scored an eight-minute hat-trick to send the Signal Iduna Park faithful into a total frenzy. Speaking after the match to German media outlet Sky Sport, Guirassy said it was a good evening for him and the team. “A perfect evening. It was the first time I have scored four goals in a game.”
The last Dortmund player to score four in a single league game was Erling Haaland in November 2020. Saturday saw Guirassy score his first hat-trick since joining Dortmund from Stuttgart. He last tallied three goals during Guinea's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign in a 4-1 victory over Ethiopia in October 2024.
Guirassy further noted Dortmund is bouncing back after a series of unfavorable results in the Bundesliga. “We knew we had to win this kind of game to bounce back. It was an important win for the team. We have to keep going like this.”
Guirassy has bagged 13 league goals this season and is also currently the top scorer in the UEFA Champions League with 10 goals for Dortmund, who advanced to the Round of 16 last week with a 3-0 aggregate victory over Portugal's Sporting CP. Dortmund, last season's Champions League finalists, have been less fruitful in the Bundesliga this season where they currently sit in 10th place.
